5.

Fixtures to be arranged between participating Clubs.

PLAYING REGULATIONS

1.

The Trophy will be awarded to the Club with the best average Merit Points at the end of season (MERIT POINTS DIVIDED BY GAMES PLAYED.)

2.

Results must be E Mailed to Robbie Divall on the result sheet sent to you ONLY and received by him no later than 6pm on the Tuesday following the match.

(Failure to do so will result in the deduction of FIVE merit points)

3.

Games will be the following format:

a) 40 overs a side with FOUR possible results, Win/ Lose, Draw, Tie, Abandoned

b) A draw will be the result if the side batting second is not bowled out and has not passed the first sides batting score.

c) Minimum of SEVEN bowlers to be used.

d) Maximum EIGHT overs per bowler. If the match is reduced to less than 40 overs, no bowler shall bowl more than 1/5th of the overs.

e) A wide or no ball will count as 2 runs with no extra ball being bowled except the last over which must consist of 6 legal deliveries.

f) A ball bowled above waist height without bouncing will be deemed a no ball and will count as 2 runs.

g) FIVE hours of cricket with each innings taking approximately 2.5hours

h) If the match is rain affected the match should be organised pro rata of the 40 overs. Say reduce by ONE OVER per THREE MINUTES to be agreed by the captains.

i) ONE new quartered ball (Super Test, Supreme, Warrior, or equivalent) per match.

j) If any Club is unable to raise a side for a game the side withdrawing is to notify their opponents no later than 7pm on the WEDNESDAY before the game. Please remember that costs may incurred if not cancelled by this time.

k) When submitting the results sheet for matches, each side is to nominate a best batter and best bowler under the age of 14 from the opposing side.

l) Hopefully it will not occur but should any dispute arise please put the reason in writing, in the first instance, to the Stoner Conference committee.

m) All clubs are advised to use the ECB Team Sheets for all matches.

n) All clubs are to be aware of their duty with regard to youngsters including ECB Safe Hands Policy and Safeguarding and Protecting Children policy.

o) Youngsters – Players under 13 may play in the Stoner Conference. This type of cricket has been designated friendly cricket by the ECB.

p) All clubs are advised that the Match officials are responsible for player’s safety during matches, regardless of Officials experience, including the risk of a thunder storm. Please see the Playing Regulation below:

Cricketing Officials have a Duty of Care towards those who are taking part in any activity that is under their control. If an umpire feels that it is dangerous to continue because of a thunderstorm, then he/she should “Call Time” and retreat to the pavilion rather than risk serious injury. In all Conference matches the 30/30 rule will be adopted: - If thunder follows a lightning flash by 30 seconds or less, people in the open are at risk of being struck by lightning. In these circumstances play must cease immediately. All players and umpires must immediately leave the field and must not return to the field until 30 minutes after the last lightning flash.

NB. It is to be hoped that when a side is batting the following format is used where possible;

That a seasoned campaigner bats with a novice at all times until this formula is exhausted.

In addition to the above, it is hoped that when a seasoned campaigner reaches 50 when batting that he/she will retire and return at the end of the innings when all other batters have batted.

Note: Please note the new recommended items from the 2013 meeting re Starting Times.

The option to use any overs outstanding after 40 overs can be used by the opposition if a side declares or is bowled out.

REMEMBER: THE CONFERENCE IS ALWAYS A PART OF THE H.J.STONER CRICKET LEAGUE (MID SUSSEX).

 Robbie Divall – January 2017
